Synology Community Packages

Synology Feb 4, 2023

This guide will help you add additional third-party packages to your Synology. I have collected multiple package sources over the years, and in this post, I will keep you updated on these Synology package sources.

Configure package center

Additional Synology community package sources are configured within the package center. For DSM 6, an extra step is required.

Enable Trusted Sources

This step is not required for DSM 7

  1. Login to DSM with an administrator account
  2. Open Package Center
  3. Open Settings
  4. Set the Trust Level to Synology Inc. and trusted publishers
  5. Click OK to save the settings

Add package source

The procedure is always the same for adding any Synology community package source.

  1. Login to DSM with an administrator account
  2. Open Package Center
  3. Open Settings
  4. Open tab Package Sources
  5. Enter the Name of the package source
  6. Enter the URL/Location of the package source
  7. Click OK to add the Synology community package source.
  8. Click OK to save the settings to the package center and load the package list from the package source.
  9. In the left bar of the Package Center, a new entry will be added called Community.

Please note that when installing third-party sources, Synology will ask for acknowledgement to confirm that installing community packages is at your own risk.

My personal favorites are SynoCommunity, or you load them all.

Community Package Sources

I hope you enjoyed this. Furthermore, now you can enjoy additional packages on your Synology created by its amazing community. Please feel free to leave a comment or email me with any suggestions you have.

Please leave additional package sources which are not listed or are no longer active in the comments or send them by email.
